THE IMPRESSIONABLE JON CULSHAW

Having worked with Jon Culshaw since Dead Ringers began, Jon and Jon put together this solo outing for JC for ITV in 2004. The tone was darker than that of Dead Ringers and, as it wasn't filmed in front of a studio audience, allowed for more surreal and challenging material. Clearly they had forgotten it was supposed to be for ITV. The fools.

As well as writing and script editing, Jon H appeared in various sketches, making his acting debut in an epic re-working of the Russell Crowe movie Master and Commander. 

The show also had a ton of bizarre cameos such as Bernard Manning (playing John Prescott), Eddie Large (as Clare Short), a Channel 5 weathergirl as a Channel 5 weathergirl, and various stars of The Bill playing themselves. That's right, The Bill. Ricky Gervais might get Samuel L Jackson, Ben Stiller and Kate Winslet but they got some people off off The Bill. How do you like them apples?

Critically well received ("Better than Dead Ringers by a mile", "At last - a decent ITV comedy!"), it wasn't recommissioned by ITV because it wasn't Footballer's Wives, didn't have Ant and/or Dec in it and wasn't a repeat of Morse.

It's not available on DVD either. Or anywhere else. There might be an episode on VHS in the cupboard. Hang on, I'll go see...........
